Harvest operations are due to start on the 19th of February in the stand between Chestnut and Moerangi Rds in the Whakarewarewa Forest . Chestnut Rd will be closed for the duration of the harvesting operation, while Moerangi Rd will be closed to the public between the hours of 4am – 4pm weekdays.

The main trails affected will be G-Rock, Chestnut Link, Dammit Janet. These trails will be 100% closed for the duration of the operation. Other trails to be affected for periods of time will be Riff Raff/Rocky Horror, Billy-T, Corners, Te Mounga & Hatuputu – We hope to keep these closures to a minimum. Trails will re-opened (unless deemed unsafe) by Security after 4:00pm on weekdays and be open on weekends (excl. G-Rock,  Chestnut Link & Dammit Janet).

Logging trucks will operate empty up Nice Rd and loaded down Hill Rd. Timberlands have allowed the shuttle service to continue their normal operation with the assistance of security who will guide them safely through the harvest site up to the normal drop off zone. Timberlands requests that everyone obeys all restrictions and respects the security officers – they are there for your safety. Harvesting operations are expected to be complete by mid-April 2018.
